On December 3rd 2012, Mercury , Venus and Saturn will align in the northeast over the pyramids in Giza. This particular alignment over the spacing of the pyramids is very rare. This won’t happen again for another 2,000 years. 

Most astronomers will probably say this event is just a coincidence, but given the evidence of ancient Egypt’s impact in history, I keep an open mind. This could be a phenomena lost with an ancient civilization that seemed to have known a few things about the universe that we have yet to understand… 

Aliens.

I’m not saying that it’s aliens, but it’s definitely aliens.

That first image is completely fake and the planets will be in a far more vertical line-up. The alignment with the pyramids will be visible at certain angles but nowhere near as dramatic as described. 

True enough! That graphic isn’t photoshopp’d particularly accurately so if anyone is hoping for something as dramatic as that picture, you’re out of luck, son. And I highly doubt it’s a sign of the coming end of the world, like some people want to claim (wtf?), since these kind of alignments happen all the time. I highly recommend clicking that link! It has more information about the alignment and some more realistic graphics.

Personally, I still find the concept reeeaaally cool, even if it won’t be as impressive as implied. My inner child who wanted to be an egyptologist at age twelve has met my hobby-astronomer self and they shrieked with glee. It’s even almost as cool as when Venus was transiting the sun in June.
