Dear White People (2012)
DEAR WHITE PEOPLE follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over a popular “African American” themed party thrown by white students. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film will explore racial identity in “post-racial” America while weaving a universal story of forging one’s unique path in the world.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Just saw it last night, and wow. Actually a lot better than I was expecting???
The music was awesome (not a surprise considering Hans Zimmer was the musical producer— he did the scores for The Lion King and Inception)
The art direction was AMAZING. Holy crap that must have been so much fun to work on! All the witches had really fantastic designs, and really clearly inspired by the wacked-out paintings and woodcuts done in the 1400’s (check out the section on the right of this painting if you doubt it). Plus the props were fab— I loved the witches’ brooms and wands. Were Hansel and Gretel’s guns ridiculous and anachronistic? Yes, but they were pretty and that’s all that matters.
Speaking of pretty:

So much eye-candy holy crap. Gemma Arterton (Gretel) spends most of the movie in leather pants so tight they look painted on, and Jeremy Renner (Hansel) has a partial nude scene in a pond. Just so you know.
But seriously, I think what makes this movie really fun to watch is how the actors really commit to their roles. Complex characters they are not, but the actors look like they’re having fun kicking ass.
All in all, it’s a genre-savvy movie with a great sense of humor, decent acting and a plot that is actually coherent (though not complex at all), and very pretty to look at. Awesome fight choreography! Plus the gore is more entertaining than gross, and they lead up to those moments really obviously so you have plenty of time to look away or close your eyes if you want to.
FINAL NOTE: Gretel is the best. She is clearly the brains of the operation, pretty much beats the shit out anyone who crosses her, and shows less T&A than Hansel. this movie passes the Bechdel test.
B- Would watch again
